The U.S. Federal Agency operates across more than 100 locations globally β€” about 20 within the U.S. and 80 overseas. Traditionally, the agency relied on a highly decentralized IT asset management system built entirely on manual processes and physical site inspections.

Each remote location was required to conduct a wall-to-wall asset inventory annually β€” a task managed by local IT specialists and marked by significant logistical challenges, high costs, and unreliable data quality.

Additionally, the agency was performing ServiceNow platform upgrades taking between 4–6 months each cycle, further burdened by poor governance, insufficient planning, and process complexity.
